Welcome, Our Story
Welcome to our site! For those of you who do not know us here is a little bit of our history. We are Jon and Lindsay Larson and we are both origionally from Missoula, Montana but currently live in Anchorage, Alaska. We were quitely married March 5, 2006 and held our wedding ceremony July 8, 2006 (this is the one most are familiar with). We both knew right away that we wanted to start a family. We were living in San Diego where Jon was stationed in the Marine Corps. and were planning on moving back home to Montana the following year. We origionally planned to start our family when we returned home, but that idea quickly went out the window. Once we did move back to Montana we had been trying for a family for almost a year with no luck. In December of 2007 we found out we were pregnant, and were ecstatic. This quickly changed when Lindsay ended up in the emergency room on her birthday due to a ruptured fallopian tube from an ectopic pregnancy. We were extremely devestated but had high hopes for getting pregnant again. Our hope for getting pregnant has still not faded, but after 4 years, we are now ready to take a new path. We recently visited a new doctor in Anchorage, and after several tests found out that our best chance for getting pregnant would be invitro fertilization. We are not completely opposed to this, but the fact is IVF is extremely expensive, and it is not a guarantee to get pregnant. We have had years of heartache, and decided that if we are going to spend the money, we want somthing a little more guaranteable. Adoption has always been something we talked about, but I guess in the back of our minds we always figured we would eventually get pregnant. Now our choice is crystal clear, and it feels like it is the right thing for us to do to become a family. We are both very excited about this choice and our future! We wanted to create this website so our friends and family would be able to follow us along our journey, since we are so far from home. We also wanted to create this site for ourselves, so we will always have something to look back to on our journey of a lifetime. And finally we want to create this site for our future child, so that he (or she) will always know that he was not "given up" for adoption, but that his parents fought for him through adoption. Thank you for taking the time to learn our story, and we hope you will follow us in our journey!

I've been meaning to start a blog about what Matt and I have been going through with trying to get pregnant. It seems like it takes a lot of courage to let people know you are having troubles along with having courage to admit to yourself that there is a problem. So I commend the both of you for doing this. Maybe it will inspire me to do it too.
ReplyDeleteWe have thought about adoption many times, but we have not come to that final decision as of yet. I would like to exhaust all other options (minus IVF) before we do that. I started looking and was confused and frustrated with where to start so I'm back to just hoping we can have our own some day. If it comes to the point in the next few years that this is our only choice, I will probably go through Catholic Adoption Services. There is also a lawyer in Anchorage (I forget his name right now) that deals with family law. He has a free consultation and has dealt with adoptions. You may want to contact him (just google family lawyer anchorage and see what you get).
Good luck, Jon and Lindsay!! WE hope for only the best for you!

ReplyDeleteI would like to contribute some money to help pay for adoption expenses. I see that I can use a credit card on this site. Can I also mail it direct to you? Do you have your new mailing address yet? Let me know if I can help in any way.
